Ilyana and Dan eloped at the beautiful Lake Minnewanka in Banff National Park. From the very beginning stages of planning, they knew they wanted to elope just the two of them against a scenic landscape. During our initial conversations, Ilyana shared this "I’ve always loved the contrast of having something so intimate like an elopement occur in such an open, natural space." From living and visiting Calgary many times, they knew the majestic rocky mountain peaks and glacier-fed lakes would make for the perfect location. They joked for a while about how the pandemic was a good excuse to elope and “defy” their family’s wishes of having a traditional wedding; only to later learn that Ilyana's mom was actually cool with it and just wanted them to get married already - and so they did!
Ilyana and Dan started off the day by getting ready and sharing a first look at the famous Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. We then headed to Lake Minnewanka to meet the fantastic Angela from Urban Officiant. Their intimate wedding ceremony included private vows, a champagne toast, and even a couple friendly visitors hanging out by the lake!
For the rest of the afternoon, we explored Lake Minnewanka and surrounding areas and had just the best time getting to know these two individuals. We say it all the time, but elopements really have our hearts.
